Suspended prosecutor Tapiwa Kasema has reportedly gone on the run after he did not turn up for work, and police failed to locate him during raids on two addresses.
Kukurigo reported police sources saying detectives had been to the homes of Kasema and his mother but failed to locate him.
Prosecutor General Kumbirai Hodzi announced on Wednesday that Kasema had been suspended pending an investigation for consenting to bail for alleged armed robber Musa Taj Abdul, alias Musa Mohammed.
High Court Judge Justice Benjamin Chikowero granted Abdul and his two co-accused Godfrey Mupamhanga (27) and Rudolf Tapiwa Kanhanga (29) bail on Monday after the NPA, represented by Kasema, consented to bail.
Kasema was once arrested for facilitating the release of ex-minister Ignatius Chombo’s passport while facing corruption charges. The passport was later seized again.
