Weather Update: Violent Storms, Wind & Hail Expected On 15 December

More rainfall is expected across the country in the coming days from Botswana, the Meteorological Services Department (MSD) has said.

In a statement this Monday, the MSD said the rainfall situation continues to improve throughout the country with more areas, including Binga and Plumtree, receiving at least 45mm on Sunday. The MSD said:

The rainfall situation continues to improve throughout the country with more areas such as Binga (55 mm), Sanyathi and Plumtree (45 mm), Chinhoyi (40 mm), Chikomba and Beitbridge (37 mm) as well as Gokwe (36 mm), receiving significant rainfalls yesterday.

This being a precursor to the steady augmentation of moisture from Botswana, with the Meteorological Services Department set to issue a Rainfall Alert soon/in the coming days.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 15 December 2 020, it is expected to be partly cloudy and mild at first, becoming warm and increasingly cloudy by afternoon, with rain-showers that could be thundery in places across the country.

These storms are likely to be violently accompanied by strong winds and possibly hail.

Localized heavy downpours could not be discounted, especially in areas along the main watershed as well as near the western border of Zimbabwe with Botswana.
