Chinhoyi Gets New Mayor
Garikayi Dendera an MDC T Councillor for Chinhoyi’s Ward 5 was yesterday voted Chinhoyi’s first citizen as he beat Zanu PF councilor Voster Mashevedzanwa to become the town’s new mayor, New Zimbabwe reports.
It had been reported that a man who works for Guard Alert Alderman Blackmore Nyangairo could be the town’s new mayor based on seniority and loyalty to the Khupe faction but Dendera reportedly surprised everyone first by being nominated for the post and by winning the mayoral election.

Dendera of Ward 5 beat recently-reinstated Zanu PF councillor Voster Mashevedzanwa after polling five against four votes, respectively.
Unwell councillor Mercy Mada (Ward 6), who attended the election in a wheelchair, won the deputy mayor’s post after garnering six votes, while her contender, Zanu PF’s Innocent Mangwanya polled a paltry three votes.

The mayoral post became vacant after Khupre recalled the town mayor and deputy mayor because according to them they were no longer serving the interest of the court resurrected MDC T 2014 structures.
