Mutare Woman Struck By Lightning
A woman from Mutare’s Dangamvura high-density suburb was struck by a lightning bolt and died on the spot while working in a maize field on Monday morning.
The body of Stella Chipato has since been sent to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital’s mortuary.
The unfortunate incident was confirmed by police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa who said the incident happened in the Destiny’s section of the suburb.
In a related development, last week a worker at the Grain Marketing Board Mutare depot was fatally struck by a lightning bolting while on duty along with two other workmates who sustained serious injuries in the incident.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Services Department (MSD) warned that Zimbabwe is expected to receive heavy rains with lightning, strong winds and hails from Sunday to Thursday.
