CID Homicide Told Not To Investigate Muchehiwa Abduction - REPORT

A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Homicide reaction team was told not to probe Tawanda Muchehiwa’s abduction by their Law and Order counterparts, a The NewsHawks report claims.

The publication reported sources saying the Homicide department rushed to the scene of Muchehiwa’s abduction soon after the kidnapping had taken place as it is its role to look into cases of armed robbery, murder and hijackings.

When they contacted the Law and Order to share notes on the crime and to ask if they were aware of the case, they were told to leave the case alone. A source is quoted as having said:

When they rushed to the scene they did an assessment and the preliminary investigations indicated that it was not a robbery, if anything it pointed to a kidnapping.

The Homicide department then contacted the Law and Order to share notes on the crime and to ask if they were aware of the case. The Law and Order said ‘iyo siyanai nayo’ (leave the case alone).

The Homicide department reportedly concluded that Muchehiwa’s abduction might have been a Ferret operation as Ferret teams include members of the Law and Order department as well as members of the Police Internal Security Intelligence (PISI), personnel from the army and the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO).

Muchehiwa was abducted in broad daylight in Bulawayo by armed men who went on to torture him for three days before dumping him close to his home with severe injuries. The torturers accused him of planning to bomb buildings and public infrastructure.
