MDC Alliance Aims To Win 2023 Election, Get State Power

Opposition MDC Alliance led by advocate Nelson Chamisa has said it aims to win the 2023 elections and attain state power.

The party’s youth secretary-general Munyaradzi Rimbi said MDC Alliance were targeting over a million youths in Manicaland for registration in the 2023 plebiscite.

Speaking after the Manicaland Million Vote Campaign launch on Sunday in Mutare, Rimbi said:

In Manicaland, we have already started registering youths in the three urban constituencies of Mutare district.

The constituencies are Dangamvura-Chikanga, Mutare Central and Mutasa South.

We want the youths to register to vote for our party so that they take charge of their destiny.

As youths, we are going to defend our vote. Our main target is to win the next elections and get State power.

Rimbi added that the ruling party’s failure to resolve the country’s economic and humanitarian crisis will work as an advantage to the opposition.

MDC Alliance is convinced it won the 2018 presidential election but the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) in connivance with the ruling ZANU PF manipulated results in favour of President Mnangagwa.

The party has vowed not to participate in the upcoming election if the requisite electoral reforms are not implemented to ensure a level playing field.
