Zemura Says He's Ready To Face Riyad Mahrez

Warriors fullback Jordan Zemura says he is ready to face Algeria and Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez when Zimbabwe take on the Desert Foxes in Algiers on Thursday night.

Zemura, who plays English Championship side AFC Bournemouth, said the Warriors are chomping at the bit to face the North Africans and are not fazed by facing the African champions. Said Zemura:

I am ready to face him (Mahrez), If I am given a chance to play, I will definitely do my best, he is good but I will try my best.

… Algeria are the African champions, they are the best team on the continent right now, in terms of form.

But, we will play against the best, prove a point or two against the best and find our way to the top, that’s how it works.

… If I am given a chance to prove myself, yeah, I am ready for the challenge, otherwise, I am very happy for the faith shown in me by the coaches.

The Warriors arrived in Algeria on Wednesday morning ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the hosts.

The match is scheduled for the 5 Juillet 1962 Stadium in the Algerian capital tomorrow. Kick-off time is 9 pm (local time).
