The late Zimbabwean socialite and multimillionaire, Genius Kadungure, better known as Ginimbi, will be buried with a stack of dollars in cash in honour of his extravagant life, one of his colleagues, self-proclaimed blesser Serge Cabonge has said.
Cabonge, who said he met Ginimbi five years ago, believes the socialite’s death is the biggest loss to the Joburg north social scene. He said:
He was a man of class, taste and style, and we need to honour that. We are going to bury him with lots of dollars, and expensive brandy.
Ginimbi was a fan of international brands like Louis Vuitton and Versace. He could wear Versace from top to bottom, including his underwear.
Cabonge revealed that Ginimbi’s favourite partying spots included Taboo in Sandton, Moloko and Club Harlem in Pretoria.
The late Kadungure was known for giving away money easily and always offered to spoil his friends with expensive booze. Cabonge added:
Inside the club, he will leave all the people smiling from bartender to bouncer because he would tip them. Once I was with him in Los Angeles and Hollywood.
I was shocked at how people were competing to get a selfie with him. Whenever we were travelling internationally he always looked for a place that sells African cuisine.
Ginimbi was killed in a car crash in the early hours of Sunday in Harare when his Rolls-Royce Wraith collided head-on with a Honda Fit and veered off the road before hitting a tree and bursting into flames.
Reports indicate that Ginimbi’s funeral service will be held on Saturday at his village mansion in Domboshava, 35km north of Harare.
