Zimbabwe Will Find Change In US Refreshing - Sunday News
Sunday News Editorial has said Joe Biden’s victory against Donald Trump in the United States 2020 elections is positive news for the whole world and Zimbabwe in particular.
Joe Biden won the US presidency after clinching by clinching 284 electoral college votes, surpassing the 270 needed to win the White House, the Associated Press (AP) announced.
The publication says Zimbabwe has for the past four years been either been ignored by an intensely inward-looking administration or has been at the receiving end of ill-considered statements and policies. Part of the article reads:
So having a US president who at least recognises the global responsibilities of the US, as well as its muscle, and who believes in diplomacy to help solve global problems will be a relief for all.

The publication makes the projection when a Zimbabwean political analyst and law expert, Tinashe Hofisi has expressed pessimism over the possibility of Biden normalising relations with Zimbabwe. He recently said:

Zimbabwe-US relations have been sower especially following the controversial fast track land reform programme two decades ago.
The Southern African country is accused of violating human rights and has been told to implement reforms that enhance democracy and good governance if relations are to normalise.
Zimbabwe which has since 2018 embarked on an engagement and re-engagement drive says it is on course to implementing the reforms.
