ZANU PF Welcomes MDC Founding Member

The ruling ZANU PF party has welcomed former MDC legislator Tongai Matutu who defected to the party recently.

Matutu was paraded at State House on Monday before President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputies Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi.

In a statement yesterday, ZANU PF acting spokesperson Patrick Chinamasa said Matutu will now undergo induction at the Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology.

Below is Chinamasa’s statement in full:

The Revolutionary Party ZANU PF welcomes Mr Tongai Matutu membership of the Party.

Mr Matutu who is a top lawyer, founding member of the MDC and former member of Parliament and Deputy Minister for Youth Affairs during the inclusive government is a firebrand politician in his own right.

The ZANU PF family welcomes him with joy and in the spirit of comradeship. His decision is a clear indication that ZANU PF is the Party of the future with the interests of Zimbabweans at heart.

In line with the Party procedure, Cde Matutu will undergo the requisite induction with the Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology so that he appreciates National Interest, Party Ideology and value systems.

Once again, the Party and its entire leadership led by its President and First Secretary Cde. ED Mnangagwa welcomes Сde Tongai Matutu with warm hands and looks forward to embracing his contribution to the growth of the Party.

To those still stuck in the chaotic opposition jungles, the Party’s advice is that it is never too late to join the Revolutionary Party, ZANU PF as it forges ahead with the creation of a new Zimbabwe towards Vision 2030.

  1. “To those still stuck in the chaotic opposition….it is never too late to join the Revolutionary party ZANU PF…”

What is unusual about people changing political party preferences? This should be normal in any democracy. But in ZANU the language used hear tells a different story.

So the one party state mentality continues unabated,in a party running a country with a multiparty democracy constitution? A party that continues to mourn about sanctions imposed bilaterally by some countries on them for this very same one party mentality.

So much for the so called new dispensation guys. Looks like Zimbabweans will never normal lives for much of their lives.
