MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora has accused ruling ZANU PF party MPs of being sadistic and hypocritical following calls for the removal from Parliament of Harare West MP Joanna Mamombe.
Mwonzora suggested that all ZANU PF MPs have mental disorders of sorts as he demanded that Mamombe should be given adequate time to recover. Said Mwonzora:
The calls by a Zanu PF MP for the recall of Hon. Joanna Mamombe on account of her illness are sadistic, unfair, unjust and hypocritical. She must be given enough time to rest and recuperate. Let he who is without a mental malady cast the first stone!
This comes after a ZANU PF legislator called for Mamombe to be recalled from Parliament after doctors confirmed that she was not mentally fit to stand trial.
Mberengwa North MP Tafanana Zhou (ZANU PF) on Thursday moved a motion for the removal of Mamombe from Parliament after doctors confirmed that she has an anxiety disorder.
Mamombe and two other MDC activists, Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova were abducted at a security checkpoint in Harare in May this year and sexually abused and later dumped in Bindura.
They were then arrested for staging an “illegal” demonstration and faking their own abduction.
Doctors confirmed that Momombe is not in a state to face trial as she suffers from anxiety disorder resulting from her torture and persecution by the State.
