Rushwaya Accomplice Implicates 1st Family In Gold Smuggling

Gift Karanda who was arrested in connection with the foiled plan by Ms Henrietta Rushwaya Zimbabwe Miners Federation President (ZMF) to smuggle six (6) kgs of gold this week has implicated the first family.

Karanda allegedly told police officers that the gold Rushwaya was carrying “belonged to the First Lady and one Collins, a son to the First Family who was supposed to have brought it but due to other commitments had requested Rushwaya to transport it on his behalf.”

It is not the first time for the first family to be dragged into corruption scandals after Collins was also linked with Delish Nguwaya of Drax International which allegedly prejudiced the state of over US$60 million COVID-19 funds.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi Wednesday night said, when confirming more arrests, said Karanda had allegedly lied that he was a member of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) after he went to the airport to assist Rushwaya.

Karanda is among six people who have since been arrested in connection with the scandal that has sparked controversy in the country.
