Khupe Removes Chamisa's Ally From Parly Committee

The interim leader of the opposition MDC-T, Thokozani Khupe has removed and placed Nelson Chamisa’s ally, Daniel Molekele from the chairmanship of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Higher and Tertiary Education.

Molekele was replaced by Lindiwe Maphosa who crossed over from MDC Alliance to the rival MDC-T as the leadership crisis in the MDC rages on.

The development was announced by National Assembly Speaker Advocate Jacob Mudenda in Parliament this Thursday. Mudenda said:

The MDC-T has nominated the following to be chairpersons of committees; Southerton MP Peter Moyo will take over from former Kuwadzana MP Chalton Hwende as chairperson of the Information Communication Technology Portfolio Committee. Yvonne Musarurwa (MDC-T) is now the new chairperson of the Environment Portfolio Committee and will replace former PR MP Concillia Chinanzvavana (MDC Alliance). Molokele will be replaced by Maphosa.

This was however not unprecedented after Binga North MP Prince Dubeko Sibanda was previously removed from the chairmanship of the Media and Information Portfolio Committee; Hwende (ICT), and Chinanzvavana.

Noticeably, the removed members were very vocal in the committees.

Since the March Supreme Court ruling on the MDC leadership crisis, Khupe has been on a recalling spree of members of the MDC Alliance accusing them of ceasing to represent the interests of the party that gave them the ticket into 2018 elections.
