They were remanded to next week Friday.

The duo, Bernard Sibanda (30) and Bonang Nare (21) is accused of killing Morgan Sibanda and Dumisani Mpofu, both of Chisuma 2 village under Chief Mvutu.

It is alleged that the soldiers who were reportedly off duty on the day in question, were camped at Chisuma Primary School located adjacent to the shops where they had been drinking.

They retreated to the base following a dispute with the now-deceased villagers and came back clad in uniform and carrying AK 47 rifles, ordered the closure of bottle stores, followed the now deceased and caught up with them across the road where they ordered the now deceased Morgan Sibanda to lie on the ground.

Sibanda reportedly resisted triggering an argument resulting in him being shot on the left side of the pelvis. Mpofu tried to run away and was shot on the right thigh, left thigh, left side of the chest, and right elbow and died on the spot.

Sibanda was rushed to Chisuma Clinic before being transferred to Victoria Falls Hospital where he died three hours after admission.

The incident sparked tensions in Chisuma resulting in villagers demanding the permanent departure businessman Munya Mlauzi whom they accused of aiding soldiers and police to terrorise them during the lockdown.
