Mutare Woman Demands Fuel As Maintenance
A Mutare woman who was allegedly divorced by her husband because of her “obsession” with an extravagant lifestyle has demanded 160 litres of fuel as part of her nine-year-old son’s monthly maintenance.
Victoria Manyange told the court that her estranged husband, Mirai Manyange, used to fill her Mercedes Benz twice in a month and she wants to maintain that lifestyle.
She also said Mirai is a co-owner of a fuel station as a silent partner in the company and therefore it would be difficult to prove his proprietorship. She said:
We are used to luxurious life and we are entitled to that kind of life regardless of the fact that we are no longer together. Our lifestyle should not change.
I used to get more than two full tanks a month from him. I am actually being lenient with him.

Mirai, however, denied that he owns the fuel service station in Marondera, saying he is employed by his friend as a manager.
In her initial maintenance application, Victoria had demanded US$600 as monthly maintenance for her son but was granted US$100 which Mirai said he could afford to pay.
She said some of the money will be used for WiFi, DStv subscription and her son’s swimming and tennis sessions.
