ZIFA Replaces Chamunorwa Chiwanza

The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) has integrated Central Region Chairman, Stanley Chapeta into the national executive to replace former board member Chamunorwa Chiwanza who was dismissed last year.

ZIFA Communications and Competitions Manager, Xolisani Gwesela announced the assimilation which he said is with effect from the 12th of this month. He said:

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) would like to advise the football public that the ZIFA Executive Committee has co-opted Mr Stanley Chapeta into the national Executive Committee in terms of Article 32(9) of our Statutes. Please note that the co-option is with effect from the 12th of October 2020 when the Executive Committee agreed to bring him on board.

The development amid allegations that Chiwanza was dismissal was as a result of his closeness to former Zifa President and current COSAFA President Philip Chiyangwa.

Gwesela, however, maintains that Chiwanza was dismissed for putting the association into disrepute adding that the hearing process was above board.
