VID To Start Issuing Driver’s Licenses Tomorrow

The vehicle Inspection Department (VID) will reopen its offices for the purpose of issuing driver’s licenses tomorrow, The Sunday Mail reports.

According to Transport and Infrastructural Development Permanent Secretary Engineer Amos Marawa, VID has developed a system which will see operations safely resuming under COVID-19 guidelines:

VID has developed operating guidelines and standard operating procedures which are in line with WHO guidelines and were approved by the National Taskforce on Covid-19, and Cabinet. These will guide the operations of VID during the pandemic.

All depots countrywide have reportedly received a memo from the government to resume operations of conducting road tests and issuing driver’s licenses tomorrow.

The government during the lockdown extended learners’ licenses validity since the VID was closed and they could not issue Driver’s licenses.
