Manicaland Zanu PF DCC Polls Turns Chaotic - Report

Zanu PF Manicaland District Coordinating Committee (DCC) elections have reportedly turned chaotic after it emerged that some candidates have started campaigning while the ruling party is still vetting the candidates, ZimMorning Post reports.

This was reportedly confirmed by Zanu PF Manicaland provincial chairman Mike Madiro on Tuesday who said

It’s advisable for the cadres to wait and stop premature campaigning, they must wait for the national electoral directorate since we are still in the vetting process.

The chaos in Mutare is not an isolated incident as allegations of vote-buying have been made in other parts of the country. President Mnangagwa reportedly called a meeting with Provincial executives to try and address the allegations according to the publication:

So intense has the allegations of vote-buying been in the ruling party that President Emmerson Mnangagwa who is the party’s First Secretary convened a special meeting with provincial executive members.

Mnangagwa used the platform to send a stern warning to party members against “manipulating the party constitution by imposing preferred candidates through vote buying.”

The Zanu PF primary elections in Kuwadzana in Harare and in Kwekwe turned bloody as the party decided to choose candidates to replace deceased MPs in both constituencies.
