Teachers Remain Adamant Despite Salary Increment

The Amalgamation of Rural Teachers’ Union (ARTUZ) has said teachers are not reporting for duty despite receiving the 40% cost of adjustment.

Teachers say the money they were given is still insignificant and they remain incapacitated to report for duty. Posting on Social media, ARTUZ said:

Our members have received around ZWL 1 596. 77 as COLA. This takes average salary to ZWL 5 100 per month. This amounts to US$ 50. The salary remains inadequate. TCPL is modestly pegged at around ZWL 17 000. Teachers remain incapacitated and wont be reporting for duty. USD 520 now

Teachers have been boycotting classes since the reopening of schools on the 28th of September. They demand the restoration of their 2018 salaries.
