State Says Sikhala's Docket Almost Complete

The docket of MDC Alliance vice-chairperson, Job Sikhala in a case in which he is being accused of inciting public violence is almost complete, the state told the Magistrate’s court.

Representing the state, Mrs Constance Ngombengombe told Harare magistrate Mr Trynos Utahwashe that they expect to set Sikhala’s trial when he returns to court on November 30.

The National Prosecution Authority (NPA) is expected to receive the docket by November 16.

Meanwhile, Sikhala responded through his lawyer Mr Harrison Nkomo, saying he will apply for refusal of further remand if the State fails to set the matter for trial on the day in question.

The Zengeza West legislator was arrested in August and charged with inciting public violence after he had urged citizens to participate in foiled anti-government protests that had been scheduled for the 31st of July.

The protests were being organised by Jacob Ngarivhume of Transform Zimbabwe following the exposure of grand corruption by senior government officials.

Sikhala is not new to the courts after he was earlier exonerated of charges relating to subverting a constitutionally established government.
