Nurses Told They're The "Backbone Of Health System"

Zimbabwe nurses have been urged to continue studying to stay up-to-date with new developments as their knowledge is essential in the execution of their duties.

The call to study was made by Dr Tsitsi Mugure, the principal clinical director with the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals and Colleta Mudondo, the president of the Rotary Club of Highlands during a handover of medical books for nurse training.

Dr Mugure also underscored the “importance of reading widely” adding that nurses ought to read to avoid a situation where they are “found wanting” when they meet knowledgeable patients.

Ms Mudondo also encouraged the nurses to read the books that were donated to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals’ School of Nursing by the Rotary Club of Highlands. She added:

Without your participation and determination, the training programme cannot be a success. As nurses, you are the backbone of the health delivery system.
