Poor Good Samaritans Narrate How They Are Helping Homeless Children

54 year Sarudzai Chinowaita who stays in Mt Hampden’s informal settlements while speaking to Anadolu Agency, narrated how she was feeding and sometime providing shelter for homeless children in her community. Chinowaita said people in the community sometimes mistake her kindness for selfishness and think she is only helping because she will get help from wellwishers.

Speaking about how she managed to feed the children from her merger earning as a street vendor, Chinowaita said:

Each time you want to help street kids, people think you want to use them for your own gain,You make the kids line up for food or stay at your place at your own peril because there are always people who tip authorities that someone is breaking COVID-19 rules and they can come for you and arrest you, But. I just do my part and become fulfilled that at least I am helping the poor children.

Another good Samaritan 43 year old Linet Chizuzu who resides in Epworth who is also feeding hungry children said she can only help with what she has but she was happy with her work:

What matters is to feed the unfortunate homeless children with whatever little I can get no matter how poor or good the food may seem to be what I enjoy most is seeing the poor children well-fed and sheltered where possible.
