RBZ: Reserve Money Update As At 11 September 2020

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) says reserve money increased by ZW$671 million to ZW$ 13 825 million over the week ending 11 September 2020, from ZW$13 154 million recorded during the previous week. In its weekly review statement, the central bank said:

Reserve money increased by ZW$671 million to ZW$ 13 825 million over the week ending 11 September 2020, from ZW$13 154 million recorded during the previous week.

The growth in reserve money largely reflected an increase of ZW$332 million in banks’ deposits at the Reserve Bank. The increase in banks’ liquidity was mainly due to RBZ purchases of foreign currency from exporters.

Required reserves and currency issued also rose by ZW$68 million and ZW$39 million, respectively, during the week under review.
