The MDC Alliance said a detailed preliminary investigative report on allegations of a senior party official’s involvement in the abduction of a student by suspected State agents in July has been compiled and presented to the National Organising Committee.
The National Organising Committee members will consider the report before the next steps are taken, the party said in a statement.
Tendai Masotsha, the Bulawayo Women’s Assembly Chair, is suspected of involvement in the abduction of Midlands State University (MSU) student Tawanda Muchehiwa on 30 July in Bulawayo.
Muchehiwa was held in captivity at an unknown location for three days and severely tortured by five armed men who were driving in a rented car.
The MDC Alliance initially promised to reveal the outcome of the investigation within 48 hours but several weeks have now passed without a report being published. In its latest update on Saturday, the party said:
