Hunger Might Trigger An Uprising - ZCC's Mutendi To ED

While touring Mbungo Estate in Masvingo Zion Christian Church leader Nehemiah Mutendi warned President Mnangagwa who he was touring with, that hungry people dependent on donations are ungovernable and the government must address the issue immediately, Newsday reports.

Said Mutendi during the tour:

A hungry man is ungovernable. How can the nation depend on donations when we have our land?

However immediately after saying that Mutendi who is Mnangagwa‘s ally borrowed a page from the government’s book and blamed the hunger on President Mnangagwa’s adversaries and said they were making people hungry and angry:

It is a ploy by enemies to make people hungry and angry. This is no time to wait to be given a job by someone. You say there are no jobs when you have land. Why wait when you have land? Even on your small yard, plant something.

The President while addressing people at the same tour decided to address the issue of his said detractors who he said are only preaching violence:

We have people in this country who just shout from morning to dusk talking of human rights. They do not have time to see the good in their country. They look for the negatives. We have organisations that do not preach peace, but violence, Before criticising others, look at yourself, introspect.

Mutendi’s warning to Mnangagwa comes a few weeks after benefactors of hungry Zimbabweans, UN WPF and OCHA have launched campaigns to raise funds to feed over 4 million hungry Zimbabweans.
