Bulawayo pressure group, Ibhetshu Likazulu has castigated the ruling party Zanu PF for trying to destroy the opposition using the court, and MDC T leaders Thokozani Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora for not respecting the electorate and recalling councillors elected using the MDC Alliance card, New Zimbabwe reports.
Ibhetshu Likazulu coordinator Mbuso Fuzwayo accused Khupe and Mwonzora of being hypocrites who at some point were talking about democracy and are now using captured courts to recall councillors and legislators. Fuzwayo said:
It is unfortunate that Zanu PF is still in its 1980s belief of a one-party state. Zanu PF destroyed Zapu on the pretext of eliminating dissidents and now they are using the courts to destroy MDC Alliance, Thokozani and Douglas do not respect the people who voted for the councillors. It is sad that we have got people for these years who have been talking about democracy, respect of the rights of voters but they are now using captured courts to recall elected councillors
Meanwhile, MDC T Youth leader had previously echoed Fuzwayo’s sentiments and said the vindictive recalls were worrisome and if they were supposed to be done they should have been done after the party has consulted voters.
