The non-taxable COVID-19 allowance of US$75 a month for civil servants and US$30 for pensioners was introduced in June and it coincided with a huge demonstration by nurses at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals who were protesting against the alleged extravagance and corruption by health authorities.
