70% Of Zimbabwe's Health Sector Is Donor Funded - British Ambassador

The British Ambassador To Zimbabwe Melanie Robinson has revealed that international donors are contributing 70% of Zimbabwe’s Health Care needs. This was revealed by the ambassador who tweeted that she was in a meeting with the Health Minister and other stakeholders and benefactors of the Zimbabwe Health Sector in a tweet that reads:

Was in a meeting today with VP Constantino Chiwenga @USembassyharare@WorldBank@euinzim& UN partners. International donors fund 70% of Zimbabwe’s health sector. Urge GoZ to increase resources it devotes to this critical sector so the healthworker crisis can be quickly resolved

Robinson also said they were pushing the government to improve on resource allocation in the health sector:

We’re also pushing GoZ to show real efficiency and accountability in the allocation of resources to the health sector. Vital to make sure drugs & PPE reach the Zimbabweans who need them most, including junior medical staff

She also gave a shoutout to health workers who have returned to work ending a 2-month long strike over poor remuneration and poor working conditions:

I’d like to give a shout-out to the doctors, nurses, student nurses and frontline workers in #Zimbabwe who continue to try to save lives under the most difficult of circumstances: they are true heroes.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Constantino Chiwenga restructured the Health Care System in Zimbabwe and banned people from going to other countries to seek medical attention.
