The Twitter account of Infomation, Publicity and Broadcasting Services’s secretary Ndabaningi Nick Mangwana has been temporarily restricted by Twitter. Mangwana who uses his account to update the nation about many issues pertaining to governance and news that affect Zimbabweans in general has so far not commented on the development.
Twitter this year suspended and permanently banned 2 government ministries’ account, first the Health Ministry’s account and recently the Infomation Ministry where Nick works’ account.
According to Twitter, a temporary restriction allows the user restricted use of the app and their followers can see previous tweets:
If your account is temporarily restricted, people who visit your profile may see a message letting them know the account may have violated the Twitter Rules and asking them to confirm they still want to view it.
A temporary restriction does not usually warrant in a twitter account suspension unless the account holder repeatedly violates the Twitter rules
