Electoral Democracy Is All About Allowing Voters To Decide Who They Want To Represent Them - Obert Gutu

Former MDC T Vice President Obert Gutu who of late has been criticising Zimbabwe Electoral Commission’s decision to replace MDC Alliance’s legislators with MDC T nominees has further opined that the move by ZEC would render the election process worthless if voters are convinced that their vote is worthless.

Gutu took to microblogging site Twitter and said:

Electoral democracy is all about allowing voters to decide who their Parliamentary representatives should be. Once voters are convinced that Parliamentary representatives will not necessarily be determined by their votes, the whole electoral system is bastardized.

Gutu earlier on made claims that he refused a seat in parliament he was offered by Khupe on moral grounds. He also yesterday said it was immoral to replace legislators picked by the electorate with a member of a rival faction of the party.
