President Mnangagwa Names New Prisons Boss After Retiring Paradzai Zimondi

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has promoted Deputy Commissioner-General Moses Chihobvu to Commissioner-General of the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) with effect from 1 November.

Dep Comm-Gen Chihobvu will take over the reins from Retired Major-General Paradzai Zimondi, who is now on pre-retirement leave, after 22 years at the helm.

Rtd Maj-Gen Zimondi went on three months of pre-retirement leave and Dep Comm-Gen Chihobvu’s promotion as substantive head of the service will take effect on November 1.

Dep Comm-Gen Chihobvu was seconded to ZPCS from the Zimbabwe National Army in 1999 and appointed personal staff officer to the commissioner of prisons.

He has served as Chief Staff Officer Security and Protocol, Assistant Commissioner Security and Protocol, Senior Assistant Commissioner Rehabilitation and Officer Commanding Manicaland Region, before becoming Deputy Commissioner-General with the responsibility of correctional services.

Dep Comm-Gen Chihobvu is a holder of a Master of Science in Strategic Management and a BSC (Hon) degree in Management and Entrepreneurial Studies and a Diploma in Combined Strategic Intelligence from the United States, among other qualifications.
