The opposition MDC Alliance said it has recorded more than 146 cases of victimisation of citizens, with 11 of the cases being property destruction.
In a statement, the party’s Secretary for Social Welfare Maureen Kademaunga said there have been 38 cases of abduction and torture and the heinous crimes were all committed by armed men moving around in unmarked vehicles. She said:
We have recorded over 146 cases of victimisation. The majority are targeted victimization, displacements and arrests totalling a combined 97 cases, with property destructions recording a total number of eleven cases (11 cases).
38 cases of abduction and torture and all are committed by armed men in unmarked vehicles. Victims suffered severe and in some cases life-threatening injuries.
The injuries include broken ribs and limbs, internal bleeding, electrocution, and being injected unknown substances.
In Bulawayo late last week on Friday, a 23-year-old woman was abducted, sexually assaulted and badly beaten by four men looking for her political activist uncle Josphat ‘Mzaca’ Ngulube.
Her case is only one of several such cases which have been widely reported by private media in the past few days.
