Africa's COVID-19 Cases Breach The 1 Million Mark

According to Reuters, COVID-19 cases on the continent of Africa have surpassed 1 Million as of last week Thursday. The continent has so far recorded 1 003 056 cases and 21 000 deaths since February/March 2020:

The continent recorded 1,003,056 cases, of which 21,983 have died and 676,395 recovered. South Africa which is the world’s fifth worst-hit nation and makes up more than half of sub-Saharan Africa’s case load has recorded 538,184 cases since its first case on March 5, the health ministry said on Thursday.

The report did not give more details about the recovery rate and the level of preparedness by African governments to tackle the virus. Meanwhile globally, COVID-19 cases are now close to 20 Million with 12 million people recovering from the diseases while over 732 000 people succumbed to the virus.
