Details Emerge On VP Chiwenga's Appointment As Health Minister

Emerging details have suggested that Vice President Constantino Chiwenga volunteered to be the Minister of Health and Child Care after disagreeing with President Mnangagwa on the successor to Dr Obadiah Moyo.

The Standard reports that Chiwenga had proposed that his personal doctor, John Mangwiro, who is also the deputy minister of Health, be appointed as replacement of Moyo who was fired last month over his involvement in a corruption scandal.

Mnangagwa was reportedly opposed to the idea, prompting Chiwenga to volunteer to take charge of the sector that is currently in tatters.

Some had suggested that He was appointed to further expose his incompetence.

Chiwenga’s appointment raised eyebrows in the country with some, including law lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe, advocate Fadzayi Mahere who said the appointment is unconstitutional as VPs are not allowed to hold other posts.
