Mutsvangwa Refutes Corona Claims, Kazembe Comes Out Of Quarantine

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa has dismissed as false reports that she and her husband, Chris, are ill with COVID-19.

Mutsvangwa insisted that they are both fine and they were only taking precautionary measures. She said:

I am absolutely fine. My husband is fine. The issue is that everyone is just taking precautionary measures and you should also be doing that.

Meanwhile, Deputy Defence and War Veterans Association Minister Victor Matemadanda, who is also the Zanu PF national political commissar, said he is neither sick nor in quarantine. He said:

I’m not in quarantine, I am not sick. Those who are saying I’m sick will be shamed.

Meanwhile, Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe on Thursday revealed that he was on his 13th day in self-isolation and will be out this Friday. Said Kazembe:

Yes, that’s correct. I decided to self-quarantine as a precaution. We had a meeting with the late retired Air Chief Marshal Shiri on Thursday 23 July.

Prior to that, I obviously met him frequently. I decided to self-quarantine. So far everything is okay, the results are good and I’m very fit, but I just did not want to take chances. Since then I have been working from home.

This comes after several Cabinet Ministers missed this week’s post-cabinet press conference, with reports indicating that they were in mandatory self-isolation.

Those reported to be in isolation came into contact with the late Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement Minister Perrance Shiri during the last days of his life before he succumbed to COVID-19 last week on Wednesday.
