Prosecutor General Kumbirai Hodzi Tests Positive For Coronavirus
Zimbabwe’s Prosecutor-General Kumbirai Hodzi has tested positive for the coronavirus becoming the latest known government official to contract the virus.
Hodzi joins a long list of government officials that contracted the virus. These include Deputy Youth minister Tino Machakaire and Harare East legislator Tongai Mnangagwa.
Hodzi is reportedly recovering at his home.
Zimbabweans have responded differently to reports of senior government contracting the virus with some saying the virus will make the government the importance of investing in the local health system.
The health sector, like many other sectors, has been collapsed for years and political elites have been seeking medical attention from abroad while the have nots had to endure the absence of medicines and health caregivers in local public health institutions.

Last year, health caregivers downed tools for a sustained period of time citing poor salaries and working conditions.
At the moment, the workers are on industrial action aimed at compelling the government to restore their October 2018 salaries and make the workplace safe.
Since the outbreak of the coronavirus in March, scores of health workers in Zimbabwe have defected public health institutions citing paltry salaries and potential exposure to the deadly virus.
