MDC Alliance Midlands Structures Snub Meeting Chamisa Fearing Khupe's Wrath - Report

A source that spoke to the Herald said MDC Alliance Midlands Structures gave various excuses for not being able to meet the firebrand politician and MDC Alliance President Nelson Chamisa who was in Gweru to bury his uncle Peter Chamisa over the weekend because they feared Khupe would axe them from their positions if they did, The Herald reports.

A source that supposedly spoke to the publication on condition of anonymity said:

Mr Chamisa was in the province to attend a burial of his relative so he wanted to meet structures to give a word of solidarity following reports some councillors were now reportedly defecting the MDC-T led by Dr Thokozani Khupe. He could, however, not meet the executive as most members gave excuses but the bottom line is that members are afraid that if they meet with Mr Chamisa they will face the axe from MDC-T.

According to the same source, MDC Alliance structures even snubbed the burial of Chamisa’s uncle and only a handful attended the burial:

There were only a few who attended the burial and the only notable figure was ward 11 councillor, Mr Albert Chirawu, who is a provincial member.
