Mwonzora Is Now The MDC T Leader Since He Was The Only Person Nominated Before 31 July – MDC T Members

A Member of the MDC T party, Fungai Chiposi has said since Thokozani Khupe failed to meet the court-sanctioned deadline to hold an extraordinary congress for MDC T 2014 Structures, Douglas Mwonzora becomes the defacto MDC T president since he was the only one nominated before the deadline lapsed, Newsday reports.

Chiposi was quoting an unnamed lawyer when he said:

A legal expert in Harare said that Mwonzora was already the MDC-T president. He is the only person who was nominated for the post of president by July 31. Therefore, he has been nominated unopposed and duly elected.

Both Mwonzora and Khupe have not commented on the issue as the matter was said to be before the courts by Khupe’s spokesperson who said the ruling did not expire and they were now requesting for the requesting for a variation of that judgment.
