Former PSL Boss Chris Sambo Died Of COVID-19

The late former Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) chief executive, Chris Sambo, died of COVID-19, family spokesperson Patience Musa has said. Sambo tested positive for coronavirus at a highlands hospital last week.

Simeon Jamanda, a close ally of the ex-Blackpool boss, told The Herald that Sambo died in Harare last night. The tragedy was also confirmed by a close family relative, who did not want to be named. The anonymous family member said:

Yes, it’s true, Chris Sambo has passed on.

Meanwhile, Sambo’s former employers, Castle Lager Premier Soccer League has expressed sadness over the death of a passionate football servant. PSL tweeted:

We are saddened by the passing of our former CEO Chris Sambo, a passionate football servant who gave a lot for the game he loved. He served the League with distinction, advocated for the full commercialisation of football & facilitated various competitions & sponsorships. MHSRIP
