ZimPF Fires Its Vice President Over RBZ Debt

Former Minister of State Water Resources and Infrastructural Development, Munacho Mutezo, has been expelled from Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) for his failure to repay a loan he got from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ).

Mutezo accessed more than US$300 000 worth of farming machinery from the RBZ between 2007 and 2008 under the controversial Farm Mechanisation Programme.

The development was confirmed to NewZimbabwe.com by Stephen Mazanza, the party spokesperson, who said Mutezo, through his actions, had breached the ZimPF constitution. Said Mazanza:

It has come to our attention that our Vice President Eng. Munacho Mutezo benefited from the controversial Farm Mechanisation Programme, which dished out millions of public funds to senior Zanu-PF, well-connected individuals and government officials.

Due to his failure to repay this loan we have decided to terminate his membership with immediate effect.

Mutezo is a former Zanu PF MP in Chimanimani. He was expelled from the party in 2016 on charges of supporting then Vice President Joice Mujuru’s bid to replace the now late Robert Mugabe as Zimbabwe’s president.
