National Dam Levels Drop To 46,4 Per Cent - ZINWA

Zimbabwe’s national dam level average stood at 46,4%, which is over 20% below the 68,8% normally expected during this time of the year, authorities have revealed.

In its latest report on dams averages, the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) revealed that there is a continued further decline in dam levels as the water-intensive winter cropping season is now at peak coupled with zero inflows in some of the country’s major rivers.

The report by ZINWA reads:

Dams continue on a decline as the water-intensive winter cropping season is now at peak. River flows have also dropped and some rivers have stopped flowing altogether. National dam level average now below 50%.

As of July 13, 2020, the national dam level average was 46,4%, over 20% below the 68,8% normally expected during this time of the year. Zero flows were also recorded in Runde, Gwayi and Mzingwane Rivers.
