Manchester City Overturn UEFA Champions League Ban

Manchester City’s two-year UEFA Champions League ban has been lifted after the club appealed the ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

CAS announced on Monday morning they had lifted the two-season suspension from European football which UEFA had imposed on City and reduced their fine from €30m to €10m.

This means that City are now free to compete in the Champions League next season, having secured second place in the Premier League with a 5-0 win over Brighton on Saturday.

In February UEFA banned Manchester City for two seasons from the Champions League for “serious breaches” of Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules and for failing to co-operate with the investigation.

The club was found to have overstated sponsorship revenue and break-even information in accounts submitted to UEFA between 2012 and 2016.
