COVID-19 Positive Returnee Gives Birth At Isolation Centre

A COVID-19 positive female returnee from South Africa gave birth to a baby boy while in isolation at Rujeko Clinic in Masvingo on Sunday.

The woman was quarantined at Masvingo Teachers College with the last group before the college was decommissioned as quarantine centre at the beginning of June.

City of Masvingo Town Clerk Edward Mukaratirwa said in a statement:

Assist me in thanking the Masvingo City Matron and nursing staff for safely managing the COVID-19 positive woman to deliver a bouncing baby.

Masvingo Provincial Information Officer (PIO) Rogers Irimayi said that the baby was delivered during the night and both mother and baby are safe and sound.
