'The Unholy Alliance Between ZANU PF & MDC-T Is Now Crystal Clear' - Political Analyst

A political analyst, Davis Laque, says MDC-T secretary-general, Douglas Mwonzora and his colleagues’ hypocrisy and disdain for constitutionalism is now obvious after they accepted funds meant for the MDC Alliance under the Political Parties Finance Act against a court interdiction which ordered the Ministries of Finance, and Legal Affairs not to give the money to the MDC-T.

This comes after the government on Friday gave MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe $7 492 500 million which belongs to the Nelson Chamisa-led MDC Alliance. Posting on Twitter, Laque said:

1] Dear Mwonzora et al, you can’t claim to be constitutionalists yet you accepted money owed to another party? There is a court interdiction which ordered Ministries of Finance & Legal Affairs not to give the Political Parties Finance Act (PPFA) funds to the MDC-T. How then did your outfit accept that money?

2] At the same time, how does the MDC-T maintain that the MDC-A as of 2018 was a 7 party’s ALLIANCE, yet claim ownership over the political & financial capital of the whole ALLIANCE? How much of the PPFA money will go to PDP, MDC-Ncube etc? How many votes does each party have?

3] Its a matter of fact that the MDC-T “repossessed” Harvest House without a court order, with the blessing of the security sector. Now, the MDC-T has received MDC-ALLIANCE money against a court order! The unholy ALLIANCE between ZanuPF & MDC-T is no longer propaganda. It’s crystal clear!

4] You can’t claim to be the official opposition yet the ruling party, which you should otherwise be a threat to, is more than willing to break the law for you. You can’t be a threat to ZanuPF yet ZBC TV follows you everywhere. There is a clear logic to this MDC-T madness!

5] You can’t claim to be the MDC of 1999 & the one that had 2 million voters, yet ZanuPF continues to attack a grieving man & links his “nonexistent” party to the Ngarivhume planned #ZanuPFMustGo #July31stDemo. By its conduct, ZanuPF continues showing which MDC is the MDC!

6] You can’t claim to be in charge of 100+ MPs yet you’ve recalled 20+ with 50+ approaching the courts in denial of your supposed Leadership. You can’t claim Leadership over MPs who only fear recalls. What does this say about them? What does this say about YOU?

7] You can’t claim to be the authentic Opposition yet all your press conferences have said nothing about ZanuPF nor the general plight of Zimbabweans. You can’t be an Opposition to the locally and internationally recognized Opposition party and its Leader(ship). It’s pathetic!

8] So really, come #July31stDemo, a lot of things must go. This hypocrisy should equally fall. Now, the unsurprising claims that Dr Khupe is trying to engage Chamisa regarding her Mwonzora fights should be looked at strategically. No emotions. Politics demands critical thinking.

9] Now that it is clear as to who is who, MDC-ALLIANCE supporters & those yearning for democracy should fund & offer strategic support to the MDC-ALLIANCE. The struggle needs sacrifice & the “apolitical” efforts of #July31 shouldn’t be divorced from the shenanigans of #July2018.

10] The immediate task, post-ZanuPF is taking Zimbabwe back to constitutionalism. Any elitist arrangement with no constitutional foundation can only be accepted as an interim mechanism towards a free & fair election least we find ourselves with another fake dispensation.
