MDC Alliance Midlands Youths Resist "Illegal" Eviction By MDC-T

MDC Alliance in the Midlands province reportedly resisted and foiled a plan by the MDC-T to evict them from their offices.

MDC Alliance youth deputy chair for Midlands, Thembinkosi Mulahleki told NewZimbabwe that they were the custodians of the premises. He said:

Fifteen people, amongst them, councillor Nyasha Benza from Redcliff stormed this building and disrupted our meeting.

They told us that we were supposed to vacate the premises before the group verbally assaulted us and threatened to unleash security forces on us if we don’t vacate the premises.

The youths who vowed their unwavering support for Nelson Chamisa also vowed that they will not surrender the premises without a fight.

The incident reflects the depth of the prolonged power wrangle in the Movement for Democratic Change which was triggered by the demise of the party’s founding leader, Morgan Tsvangirai.

It also comes after the MDC-T a few weeks ago, with the assistance of the military and police, invaded Harvest House christened Morgan Tsvangirai House which MDC Alliance was using as its offices.
