Kenya To Re-Open Schools In January 2021

Kenya has announced it will reopen schools in January 2021 and said they were considering the 2020 school year lost, Bloomberg reports.

This was revealed by the country’s Education Secretary George Magoha who said the country’s primary and secondary final year students will take their final exam late next year.

After declaring the 2020 school calendar null and void, Magoha went ahead and said:

In consultation with Ministry of Health we have agreed schools to reopen when daily Covid-19 cases reduce consistently for 14 days. Social and physical distancing is the most critical factor in ensuring safety of learners.

Inter-county movement of students will cause severe challenges with high incidents of infections. We are happy to inform Kenyans that the president accepted the recommendations.
