The Virus Still Has A Lot Of Room To Move – WHO Warns Govts Against Easing Lockdown Restrictions

the World Health Organisation has warned governments that the novel coronavirus is still active and the pandemic is yet to be contained as governments are reportedly easing lockdown restrictions after months of locking down their economies.

According to the Herald, WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus said cases were increasing in some countries that were “opening up” and the pandemic is still not contained:

The measures have been successful in slowing the spread of the virus, but they have not completely stopped it.

Some countries are now experiencing a resurgence of cases as they start to re-open their economies and societies. Most people remain susceptible. The virus still has a lot of room to move.

Globally, 10.5 million cases have been recorded, 511k deaths and 5.3 Million recoveries were also recorded since the onset of the pandemic in December 2019.
