Robbers Terrorize Bulawayo Motorists - Report
Robbers are reportedly targeting parked cars in Bulawayo CBD as they are breaking into stationery vehicles stealing people’s belongings in their absence or daringly robbing them at gunpoint, The Chronicle reports.
A robbery syndicate is reportedly targeting cars in front of shops and supermarkets and ZRP has made some arrests but they could not give the exact figure of the suspects arrested.
One of the victims who was robbed by the notorious robbers in the CBD, Mr Tarinda a forex dealer narrated how his ordeal and said:
Two of the robbers got out of their car armed with a pistol and rifle and smashed the window of my car on the driver’s side. They forced open the door and dragged me out of the car and demanded money.
…tried to wrestle with one of the suspects who was armed with a pistol but four others got out of the Honda Fit, opened the rear door of his car and took a small bag containing US$2 800 and R3 500.

3 suspects are in custody over the robbery. In yet another incident, Mr Pardon Pakamani lost close to $10 000 USD after a robber who was caught on CCTV smashed the window of Mr Pakamani’s car and stole a laptop, US$9 000, R11 200 and $3 500.
Bulawayo ZRP Spokesperson Chief Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incidences and urged motorists to remove all valuables from parked cars and said:
They target mostly unattended cars parked in the central business district. These gangs usually park behind or near their targeted victims’ vehicles before they smash door glasses and steal money and valuables.
Almost every week we are arresting some gangs linked to these syndicates, but we are concerned that they continue to mushroom. Although we are accounting for these criminals and impounding their cars, the numbers are not conclusive
