Nurse Anaesthetists Join Nationwide Health Workers' Strike

Nurse anaesthetists have joined a strike by the rest of Health Care workers citing incapacitation to deliver services under the current conditions of service.

A statement issued by the Clinical Anaesthetists Association this Thursday reads:

REF: INCAPACITATION OF CLINICAL ANAESTHETISTS (NURSE ANAESTHETISTS)

This letter refers

As Clinical Anaesthetists Association, we are disturbed by the rate of incapacitation for all our members and the rest of all civil servants, with the employer not taking serious engagements with the Health Apex Council to address issues raised by ZINA.

In view of that, Clinical Anaesthetists are hereby withdrawing their services with immediate effect. We share the same grievances.

As Critical Care Providers, we feel we cannot hear the cricoid pressure any more. It’s no joy how the prizes have been adjusted upward, fuel gone up, every day queuing for basic commodities with frontline staff not even getting a top priority.

The rise in the cost of living has made it difficult to access basic food on the table. Above the hard-working, we get no recognition from the employer.

We urge all our members to be advised accordingly.
