Journalist Accused Of Having Ties With The First Family Fights Back
Elias Mambo, the founder of Zim Morning Post, an independent publication in Zimbabwe has responded to claims that he is not thoroughly investigating the Drax International corruption saga because he has strong links with the first family.
Drax International is fronted by Delish Nguwaya who is said to be friends with the first family. The company was contracted to supply medical equipment by the Ministry of Health and Child Care and it did so at exorbitant prices thereby prejudicing the state of over US$40 million.
The allegations that Mambo is friends with the first family were made on social media after opposition MDC Alliance activist, Pedzisai Ruhanya posted on Twitter insinuating that Mambo had not done justice on the Drax International saga as he usually does with other cases. Ruhanya tweeted:
Have also noticed that @elias_mambo has not made the link between DRAXGATE and the First Family. There are rare if not at all pictures of DELISH and the First Family on your website. I am curious to hear from you @elias_mambo since you wrote the first story. Just observed.

There is a huge difference between activism and investigative journalism… In as much as the popular view is #Draxgate is linked to @edmnangagwa family…As of now, there is no evidence in terms of paper trail…but u can check again our first story…
Matifadza Mandizvidza weighed in saying:

Pedzisai Ruhanya responded to Mambo saying he was not attacking him adding that he was just making an honest inquiry. He added:
You have done a fantastic job here as you have always done for long. Very brilliant journalist
Mambo responded saying it was an attack that could not be sanitised. He added:
You did…and you are trying to open a floodgate of attacks..But I have shock absorbers esp where I know I am right… You are doing exactly what your colleagues have been doing since HCC corruption exposure
Investigations by prominent journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono and ZimLive as well as many other publications exposed the abuse of funds meant for COVID-19 response and also indicated that Nguwaya has links with the first family.
